The creation of the metallurgy department at the Navoi State Mining Institute was dictated by the requirement of precipitously developing science and technology on the edge of the 21st century. This progressive development has contributed to the increased role of metals in the life of people. We find metal elements in all areas of our lives. Almost any building is based on reinforced concrete structures, we drive metal cars, we even wrap food in aluminum film. Without them, cell phones, computers, flat displays, portable players, and much more have become inconceivable. In this regard, the training of highly qualified specialists in the production of metals is not of little importance.

Without exaggeration, we can say that without developed metallurgy, technological progress is practically impossible in almost any industry. Therefore, almost all industrialized countries pay special attention to the development of the metallurgical industry. So the Republic of Uzbekistan after gaining independence has given great importance to the intensive development of the mining and metallurgical complex, mining and processing industries. Decree of the First President of the Republic I.A. Karimov created the Navoi State Mining Institute on July 7, 1995. In September 1995, the Department of Mining and Metallurgy was organized as part of the institute. June 2, 1997 on the basis of the order of the rector of the Navoi State Mining Institute, Professor B.R. Raimjanova opened the department of "Metallurgy and enrichment."

Students are preparing according to the two-stage “bachelor-master” system in the areas of “Metallurgy” and “Mineral Processing”.
